Braces
A set of braces is an apparatus with which the malpositions of the jaws and the teeth and the often herewith connected muscular imbalances in the mouth region are being corrected.
Removable or fixed?
In case of the removable braces there is a differentiation to be made between „active plates“ for minor dental movements in the upper jaw and the lower jaw and „functional orthodontic equipment“ for the growth stimulation of the jaws as well as the normalization of a functionally impaired musculature. They are being offered in child-oriented colors (Eintracht Frankfurt- Tigerente - rainbow - penguin) in order to facilitate the wearing of the braces for the children. Another kind of removable braces are the aligners made of removable synthetic material. As opposed to the classic braces, the aligners do not compose of any adjustable elements, but after the creation of the imprint and the determination of the treatment objective there is a computer calculation of several intermediate steps by means of a 3D computer graphics procedure and then a corresponding number of transparent plastic splints is being produced. These aligners are being worn one after the other for 2 weeks each. The aligners can be removed easily when eating or cleaning the teeth; they are hardly visible and do not influence the pronunciation.

The used material ranges from stainless steel to titanium up to the transparent ceramic bracket. Metal brackets and the wire are visible. By the use of ceramic brackets and white wires the optics can, however, be designed much more unobtrusively.
Lingual braces" are being fixed from behind, that means on the teeth on the side of the tongue. Therefore you do not see them.
